How you will spend your time

This role will allow you to develop your existing engineering knowledge and offer challenges to hone your skills in electronic design and engineering disciplines. You’ll form part of a team, contributing to product development, verification, and overall project delivery. The results of your work will be important to our clients who operate at the forefront of technologies using embedded hardware and software.

As part of the team in you’ll both develop yourself and contribute to the value we bring to our clients who operate across a wide variety of applications from lowest power IoT devices to highest speed home entertainment broadcast receivers. You will work in a flexible environment reporting to a Group Lead or Project Manager and will have considerable exposure to our clients and other partners. You will need to bring a sound engineering knowledge, be able to learn ‘on the job’ and have first-rate communications skills.

What you will need to bring

Mandatory Skills

  • A minimum of five years working in a hardware design and development environment.
  • Ability to understand complex engineering issues and clearly communicate them to non-technical stakeholders, via email, phone, and other methods.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, written and spoken.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of electronic hardware architecture and design principles.
  • Will have already completed a portfolio of product development and deliveries.
  • Knowledge of printed circuit design principles.
  • Ability to apply existing knowledge to learn CAD systems for schematic entry and PCB layout.
  • Clear and demonstrable skills to design and develop to an agreed specification, taking product and project schedule requirements into account.
  • Knowledge of modern software and scripting techniques.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of electronic hardware testing and debug.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Creation of product requirements specifications.
  • Contributing to design reviews and critique.

Desirable Tech Skills

Experience with any of the following is useful, although not required. The ability and willingness to learn is just as important.

How you will spend your time

This role will challenge you and push you out of your comfort zone, so we’re looking for a bright Junior with a relevant degree (or equivalent experience) a minimum of two years’ experience and a keen interest in electronics.  You’ll start by learning about the technologies & tools that the hardware team use to go about delivering products and projects to our customers.  By working as part of the team you’ll begin to produce your own work results, valuable to our customers who operate at the forefront of technologies using embedded hardware designs across a wide variety of applications from lowest power IoT devices to highest speed home entertainment broadcast receivers.  You’ll ideally have a sound theoretical knowledge, an ability to learn “on the job”, and excellent communication skills.

As a Senior IT Recruiter, you’ll provide a comprehensive recruitment service for some of our key programmes and projects. We recruit for Software Engineers, Hardware Engineers, Integrators, and Architects, amongst other things. You’ll need to speak the lingo, and have considerable experience in technical recruitment already, to help you hit the ground running.

People with the right kind of expertise (C, C++, Java, Android, Embedded Linux) aren’t easy to find. That means you’ll need to be adept at proactive candidate search, using LinkedIn Recruiter and other tools. You’ll couple this with an honest, authentic approach and a real belief in adding value with every interaction.

Part of your role will be managing an extensive network of suppliers, including recruitment agencies, contractors, and other service providers. How you will spend your time

This role will allow you to develop your management and engineering knowledge and offer challenges to build on your existing skills. You will take responsibility for the delivery of projects and resources working across a varied range of projects for various external and internal customers. You will be required to deliver projects to meet our clients’ needs whilst focusing on maintaining & improving on Consult Reds trusted capability, quality & success. The projects you will take responsibility for will require you to understand and discuss at a technical level meaning this role may be best suited to someone who is moving from an engineering based role into project management. You’ll form part of a team, contributing to product development, verification and be responsible for overall project delivery of your projects.  The results of your work will be important to our clients who operate at the forefront of technologies using embedded hardware and software.

As part of the team, you’ll both develop yourself and contribute to the value we bring to our clients who operate across a wide variety of applications from the lowest power IoT devices to the highest speed home entertainment broadcast receivers.  You will work in a flexible environment reporting to the Head of Hardware and will have considerable exposure to our clients and other partners. You will need to bring a sound engineering knowledge, be able to learn ‘on the job’ and have first rate communications skills.

What you will need to bring

Mandatory Skills

  • A minimum of ten years working in an electronic or software product/project development or manufacture environment.
  • Ability to understand engineering technology, terminology and processes and clearly communicate them via phone, email and other methods.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, written and spoken.
  • Experience of a wide range of relevant products and technologies.
  • Experience of people and project management in a technical environment.
  • Experience of customer facing responsibility including stakeholder management, issue escalation and resolution.
  • Experience of preparing statements of work  and understanding of commercial terms
  • Knowledge of Waterfall & Agile management techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic electronic hardware architecture and design principles.

Desirable Tech Skills

Experience with any of the following is useful, although not required.  An ability and willingness to learn is just as important.

  • Knowledge of production management, NPI and product delivery
  • Knowledge of relevant industry technologies and standards.
