Living and working near Warsaw
Modern Warsaw was established in approximately 1300, but the first fortified settlements on today’s city were Brodno and Jazdow. Because it has been destroyed and rebuilt so many times, it’s earned the nickname Phoenix City.
- The mermaid is a symbol of the city; there are statues of mermaids throughout the city and documented use of the symbol dates back as early as 1609.
- Since the city doesn’t have a good ring road system, it does rank with one of highest levels of congestion in Europe
- One of the cities most famous daughters is Marie Curie, the first woman to win the Nobel Prize
- Top attractions include Warsaw Old Town and museums such as The Museum Of Warsaw and The Adam Mickiewicz Museum Of Literature
