Challenge

Complex product development – new form factor introduction to the market.
A major disruptor to the norm of operator STBs and retail TV devices.
Aim to simplify the entertainment experience in the home – bringing together technologies and increasing operator stickiness with their subscribers.
Customer desire and need to migrate to the RDK platform.
Introduction of new services and applications including ‘watch together’ and casual gaming.

Solution

Experienced SW and HW teams rapidly stood up to realise the concepts as a PoC for customer board approval.
A subset of the demonstrated technology was developed further, with Consult Red working as part of a wider Customer team, through to product launch.
Consult Red were instrumental in supporting the customer adoption of RDK, bringing significant RDK knowledge and experience.
Peripheral camera developed as a separate device. Led SW design and architecture for the device and key applications.
The final product platform has enabled syndication opportunities in the market.

Significant experience gained in developing both software and hardware for connected TV platforms rather than ‘traditional’ STB devices.
